This week on Monday morning I went for a walk to nearby park. I was searching for Riya; Riya is a cute little girl. She is 9 years old and she comes here every morning with her mother. She was sitting on a bench and her mother was walking. I sat next to her and she exclaimed with happiness seeing me. She said “I am waiting for you to come; I want to tell you about yesterday”. She continued “I woke up at 6 yesterday, went to flower market and got a rose. Then I wished my mom happy mother’s day and gave her the rose and bangles which I bought by saving money from one month”. She took a pause and continued “My mom was very happy, she hugged me and planted kisses on my cheeks. Then I made that sandwich which you taught me and served it to her as breakfast. She liked it very much. She asked me why I took all the effort to make the breakfast and I said that I love her a lot. She broke down to tears and for a second I thought she was sad or I made something wrong but later I realized that they were happy tears when she hugged me and said thank you. Then, whole day I spent time with her, played games with her. I did not go out to play with my friends”. She thanked me for teaching her how to make sandwich and flew away to play games with her friends. She was very happy and delighted for making her mother happy. I was looking at her mother Seeta, she was very happy. Seeta is a single mother who fought against the odds and working hard to raise her daughter. I knew how hard it was for her. I had never seen her being this happy. I wished that the smile on her face remains forever.
Sometimes, we think that giving expensive gifts can make our mothers happy but in reality, all they need is our time and efforts. Of course, she always has time for us no matter how busy her day might be. Can’t we take some time out to spend with her??
